  1. So because some controversial comments were made on friday, you don’t post the show?? Come on man… at least edit it out and still post.. please?
    I need this
    lol

  2. what were the controversial comments?

  3. i just read your comment ciph, that was a tough joke but not the worst joke i ever heard hope things dont affect you..but if they do you got a lifetime to post some juan eps.. please? thanks anyway

  4. Fuck it Ciph all your true fans know you were clearly joking. You guys joking on all type of races man I think niggas is just too sensitive. The funniest thing though is that if I had to guess who on the show would say some controversial shit and get you guys in trouble I would have definitely said it was going to be Rosenberg. Hopefully everything is cool and no matter what I’m riding with you guys forever.

  5. Yeah it was a joke but if he said he avoids hiv by not having sex with dirty Mexicans or Africans what would be done. star and buckwild lost a bunch of dough for the silly shit he said. He should at least be fined or give some of his dough to a Haitian charity.

  6. STILL LOVE YOU CIPH! Everyone knows this show is all fun & games – they better not suspend you – the show is wack without ciph. you apologized, and thats what it is…now please post the show ciph – c’mon!!

  7. Well Ciph….I forgive you…I actually thought it was Rosenburg….he’s always slip up and say reckless shit…..Everyone deserves a second chance….so… enjoy…..We love you!!! pause…..Happy Holidays!!! :)

  8. Wait doesnt that suck….the first time you slip up it makes the NYC Post….yikes!!!!

  9. A lot of haitians where i’m from…. They’re still pissed. They want Ciph off the air.

Its a live show that pokes fun at racial stereotypes… they walk a fine line and are bound to cross it from time to time. I’m not surprised.

Sounds even worse when you’re not familiar with the show and all the other “offensive” ish they say on a regular basis (which i think is funny most of the time).

Your fans know you better but to the outsiders you might as well be Don Imus.

    Peace God

  10. Cipha/Rosenberg:

Hello. I heard about the comments you made in regards to “Not Having AIDS because you do not mess with Haitian girls”, and I thought, and still think the joke was in extremely POOR taste. And, this is NOT Only because I am a Haitian woman, BUT also because AIDS in general is NOT a Laughing Matter. And, if one should consider the STIGMATA, against HAITIANS, My People, and the History of AIDS, and why in the 80’s many Haitians crossed the Brooklyn Bridge in protest of the CDC stating Haitians are AIDS carriers, this is Clearly NOT a laughing matter, no matter how you spin it.

CIPHA, I’m aware that you have “apologized”, and that there was a scheduled protest in front of Hot 97 studios, but I for one would like for to ask, “What were you thinking?” Really? “Was it really a lapse of judgment?” I am not stating Haitians should get a “pass” from your show, in light of the what we have collectively gone through as a nation, Jan. 12, and its present day after effects; but I do think my country, and its people have fairly, and unfairly been the “butt of many a jokes”… however; yours truly left a negative taste in the minds of many of Haitians, considering what many of us went through growing up in the 80’s/90’s, with the stigmata of AIDS attached to us, when many of us immigrated to this country for a “better opportunity” than that of which we were afforded in our native land. Sir, your tasteless joke, aided in reviving theses thoughts not only in the mind of Haitians who had experienced the brunt of the insults, but unfortunately in the minds of those [ignorant] folks, who take, will take your joke, “at face value.”

I do not know how best to rectify this situation, besides an apology, as you have been obliged to do, and have done. I understand the nature of your show is that of “shock value”, and there will be “off”, and “insensitive jokes” made, however; I implore you to consider the impacts of said jokes.

Hot 97, has relieved “Jocks” of their posts in the past, for similar antics…. only time will tell what may become of your show.

    Sincerely,

    “Haitian Woman NOT Laughing.”

PS– “First They Came for the Jews”
    By Pastor Niemoller

First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for the Communists and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me. “

  11. Hey Haitian Woman NOT Laughing,

Please take it easy. This is not Bill O’Reilly or some other hatemonger. This is somebody who has love and respect for all people – particularly West Indians. You “heard” about his comments, but you didn’t “hear” his comments, which leads me to believe that you don’t even listen to the Cipha Sounds/Rosenberg show. That being the case, you might want to reconsider all of this anger and outrage since you neither know the context, nor understood where/who it was coming from. It was wrong, and the same day he made an apology. It wasn’t made begrudgingly either – it was heartfelt.

    So, please.

    Thanks,
    Mateo

    P.S. Yes – just, please.

  12. Mateo,

I thank you for your response. It is perhaps simple, and even “easy” to say, “take it easy”, and it is in jest (when the joke is not on “you”, but rather on “another…”), and, look, how “big of him”, “he apologized the same day.” What more could you ask for?

Grant it, I do not listen to the Cipha show, (and I am less inclined to do so especially now) [I would be amiss if I did not say, I grew up on Hip-hop, and Hot 97 was a mainstay on my radio @ home, on my Walkman, and I made tapes of my fave songs as almost all of my peers, so I am not " isolated from the Hip-hop culture", or "some Haitian who only listens to her kinda music", and wants to be all upset 'cause a "joke" was said about Haitians." far from that--"Lwen de la..." ]
Truth is, my son heard the show, and he blasts HOT 97 when he is home, along with the Cipha show, and when he brought the comment to my attention, I was flustered, as for me, it brought back unwanted memories of my own childhood, in Harlem, defending myself against those who SWORE, I carried AIDS, and for that reason, I, and those like me, DESERVED to be jumped, cursed, have property stolen, made fun of, and other such incidents. AIDS– a Disease I knew nothing about, YET, I, along with those who are Haitian were being BLAMED for, not only by the CDC (a suposed trusted reliable Government agency), but also by African Americans, and other “like West Indians”, including Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, etc.

So, I imagine, you, “Mateo”, because YOU, may not identify with “Haitians”, or the plight of what we endured during that time, may never fully grasp the FULL effect of Cipha’s comment, and can only say, “just, please”… and, “it’s taken out of context”, it was a joke, etc.” But the bottom line to me, and countless others, is that his comment was sad, upsetting, and it hurt a great deal!!

I can not in good conscious “Brush it aside”, “get over it”, without at least voicing my thoughts, in a forum where I think my thoughts may be read, perhaps, even by Cipher himself? Or, at the very least, by others who HEARD the comment, and wonder why the hell Haitians, are “upset.” Especially when the deragatory comments clearly states, I, as a HAITIAN woman, and many other HAITIAN women carry AIDS. That is not only insulting me as a woman, but women who sacrificed so that I can be, and those whose shoulders I stand on. How’s that for thought? His comments/jokes, is multi-layered, and each layer, cuts more deeper than the last. I imagine, comments such as that, may incite any other groups of people to at the least be “upset..”, and why not, me, as a “Haitian woman?”

I implore you, “Mateo” what then should I tell my son, who listens the show, only to have negative “jokes” told about his cultural heritage? “Oh buck up son, laugh it off, it’s all in good humour!?” Or, please don’t be angry, at Cipher Sounds/Rosenberg he was just joking, ‘nah mean?” And, look, he “sincerely apologized..” it’s all good, now…

    Hhhhmmm….????

  13. **The above comment is also by “Haitian Woman NOT Laughing.”

  14. **The above comment is also by “Haitian Woman NOT Laughing.” ***

  15. P.S. Mateo Apparently you were UNAWARE of “Cipher’s’joke” cause you, Mateo, poster #2 inquired what was said, and yet you are not only confident that he gave a heartfelt apology, you insist my anger is unwarranted. (Based on a joke you were unaware of) Many thanks. Merci beaucoup!

  16. *yawn
    Where’s Juan Ep?

  17. hey ciph, now your really famous. people who dont even listen to the show are frequenting dontgetgassed. who says theres such a thing as bad pub.
    congrats brother!

  18. Haitian woman not laughing,
Unless you have NEVER laughed at a racist or inappropriate joke or have NEVER said something that you would like to take back. Give it up. People like you crucify others for their mistakes when you yourself have no right to judge. The man apologized. He said it and he can’t take it back. What more do you want him to do. Do you want him to bow down to you and kiss your ass while he’s down there?

  19. HERE WE ARE ONCE AGAIN…HOT 07 & CONTROVERSY…LIKE I SAID BEFORE… A WISE MAN ONCE SAID, ” TAKE THE LOG OUT YOUR EYE BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO TAKE A SPLINTER OUT OF YOUR BROTHERS’ EYE” YOU SAID IT… APOLOGIZED FOR IT & NOW LET’S MOVE ON. LISTEN SON, YOU’RE STILL LOVED & EMBRACED. KEEP THE FAITH & WALK IN PEACE.
    MAMASITA

  20. I WILL TUNE IN EVERYDAY NOW JUST TO SUPPORT YOU!!!!!!!! EVEN IF I AM NOPT AROUND I WILL HAVE YOU STREAMING SOME WHERE!!!! IT WAS A JOKE AND A FUNNY ONE AT THAT. STOP BEING SO SENSITIVE HE JOKES ON EVERY RACE. THEY HAVE A DAMN SKIT ON STEREO TYPES!!!! THAT COUNCIL LADY THAT IS SO AGAINST HIM AND WANTS TO GET HIM FIRED HAS SOMETHING ELSE COMING WHEN SHE NEEDS TO BE ELECTED AGAIN!!!!! I THINK THERE ARE MORE PUERTO RICAN AND LATINOS OF ALL TYPES IN NYC THEN HAITIANS SINCE YOU WANNA RALLY PEOPLE AND TAKE IT THERE!!!!!!!!! ALWAYS THOUGHT YOU WERE FUNNY AND A REAL DUDE CIPHE. IF THAT IS WHAT YOU SPEND YOUR TIME ON. I FEEL THERE ARE A LOT MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES IN THE HAITIAN COMMUNITY EVEN HERE IN NYC.

  21. agreed. If you dont listen to a show on the regular – you honestly, dont have a say. because ciph and rosenberg makes fun of allll races – this isnt the first this is ever happening. so this is taken out of proportion. like the other user said, ppl cant act like they never said a racist joke, or at least laugh at one. this is why the world is all effed up. because ppl take things too seriously. if we all just sit back, have a laugh. we’ll be good. now, since ciph is suspended, this show is going to be wack, rosenberg cant hold on its own, and k. foxx pshhh, she may as well not be part of it at all. ciph is the essence of the show – im just afraid there gonna try to keep him off the air for good :(

  22. Wow … Cipha got suspended … dude has NEVER done/said anything wrong, slips up and this happend … A damn fucking shame … smfh

    ROC

  23. Lord help us all! Kay Foxx better fall back this week.
Ciph, your real listeners know you feel awful about this and everything will blow over soon. People throw a fit over 1 bad joke but won’t do shit about things regarding world issues.

  24. Ayo Ciph…

FuqIt!!!!.. Being that the Haitians as pissed at you..
The Jamaicans are pissed at you…
The Gays are pissed at you…
    The Dominicans are pissed off..
The Puerto Ricans are pissed off…
    The Whites are upset…
I heard your family is even hot with you right now…

No more jokes brother… Talk about censorship.. WOW!!!.

I didn’t hear this show (I live in another country).. But, I listen to all your podcast.. Are these protesters/complainers regular listeners? Because if they were they would be aware you are an equal opportunity offender (especially when it comes to your people).

btw.. HIV/AIDS is not a Haitian or Gay disease

  25. WORD!!!..

    Ciph got suspended??
How come KFox didn’t suspended for saying to the caller “Get that B!tch Off The Phone”??

    Let me guess…….
Not enough “b!tches” complain.. LOL.. LMAO..

  26. I thank you all for your feedback, comments, and what have you, my goal was NEVER to change ANYONE’s opinion about “Cipha’s joke”, but rather to bring my own point of view; and perhaps to have some effect on the end result. (AND……Voila, “CIPHA” as of now, is STILL SUSPENDED, INDEFINITELY, and my hope is that he does learn from this)

And to the poster who asked, whether or not, I a non-public persona has laughed, or even told a “off joke”….. my answer is yes. I have laughed at some “off jokes”…..BUT, I also KNOW there are certain jokes which are NOT Funny, and may very well be a reflection of the person telling the jokes. Jokes that fit this criteria to me are: Autism, Retardation Mental, or Physical, a life traumatic event–9/11, death in family, etc, and a disease which has no cure, certain forms of cancer, leukemia, HIV/AIDS, etc.

This also caught my attention– “I FEEL THERE ARE A LOT MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES IN THE HAITIAN COMMUNITY EVEN HERE IN NYC.

    chris krimitsos”

Yes, Chris, certainly there are numerous other issues that the Haitian community has to be concerned about, not only in our native homeland, the tent cities, and many of our families literally living in tents, but elections, and many HAITIANS are very concerned, and are doing what they best can, to assist. The fact of the matter is, although we are Haitians, some of us have become naturalized citizens, and unfortunately have no say in Elections (such as the recent Election spectacle that took place last month), and can only hope, assist those “back home”, and pray by the GRACE of GOD, something positive becomes of Haiti. But, as we are also residents of NY, FLA, Boston, and the other countless cities in which Haitians reside, we have assimilated ourselves into “American culture”, and would like the same RESPECT that are given to others–too much to ask?!

Also, please name ONE NATIONALITY that is without “PROBLEMS” in any given country, let alone the USA?!

Anywho…. Happy Holidays! You too, “CIPHA” ;-)

  27. Some of us are just too damn educated…

Some of us have never been to a comedy clud… or listen to black comics outside of Bill Cosby, Sinbad and Dwayne Perkins…

Some of us need to just relax, relate & release.. Don’t take life or what the next man/women say so serious.. Life too fuqn short

May this season and coming year be full of love and laughter.. for some of us…
