Ciph, just got an internship and will be in Toronto/Barbados for the summer. Thanks for staying on top of posting these podcasts. They definitely help get me through the day and I know when I get out there, it’ll be great to hear that tings a gwan in NY.
Best,
Matt

P.S. Please tell Rosenberg to stay in his lane. As much as you all kid around, I think he can say some pretty racist and ignorant things on air. Your interview with Plies today was just one example of that. Just because Plies is articulate doesn’t mean that his raps need to be. He’s an entertainer. He’s making music that appeals to his target audience. Why would Rosenberg think that he would have to start quoting Shakespeare and using complex vocabulary in his rhymes just because he’s college-educated?

Whoa Mateo, I have to disagree with you. Not that it should matter but I’m a black male and I understand where Rosenberg is coming from. Pretty much he is saying if you are this bright young guy why the hell are you coming off as a dumbass on your music. I understand sometimes you have to dumb down your music, hey even Jay admitted that, but come on. Back during the Minstrel show era, blacks HAD to do this to make it in Hollywood. What’s Plies excuse??
And to accuse him of being racist, come on now.

@Kappa
I’m a Black male as well. What is Plies saying in his lyrics that implies he’s not bright? And my point is, why does Plies even have to imply that he’s bright in his songs? What am I missing? He’s an entertainer, right? Why should you, Rosenberg or anyone dictate how he should entertain us? If you don’t like what he’s got to say, don’t purchase or illegally download is music.
And by bringing up the Minstrel era, are you implying that Plies takes it that far?
Also, pay close attention to many of the things that Rosenberg says. Sometimes he’s kidding. Sometimes he’s not. And other times he takes it too far.
My opinion – you don’t have to agree.
